  • Canadian Embassy renovate the kitchen exhaust ventilation system in their residential house focusing on improving fire safety. The following requirements need to be addressed:
    • Fresh air intake must provide 90% to 95% of the exhaust air volume.
    • The existing uninsulated flexible duct poses a fire hazard and must be replaced with a rigid duct made of 18-gauge BI, coated with primer paint and equipped with fire-resistant insulation.
    • Retained flexible ducts should be reduced to a maximum length of 1 meter and connected to a rigid 18-gauge BI duct with primer paint and fire-rated insulation.
    • The exhaust blower must either be upgraded or replaced with one of the same capacity according to the design specifications.
    • The exhaust blower brand should be replaced with Krueger or Niagara, ensuring the capacity is clearly labeled for future maintenance.
    • The access manhole should be relocated closer to the blower to facilitate preventive maintenance.
